Our second workshop in New York was a professional development and networking program that aimed to assist resident and non-resident artists in getting to know the complex and vibrant art scene that exists in New York City. This second edition was hosted by local institutions, artists and independent curators, and gathered a cohort of fifteen local and international artists. Residents met key players within the dense New York art ecosystem, with a robust programming that offered daily visits to artist studios and local arts institutions, and was complemented by readings about local socio-political history, arts, and culture.
The program intended to present and explore all the moving parts of the New York City art scene. Thus it offered daily visits to artists' studios and local arts establishments, such as galleries of various profiles, museums and foundations. Participants was able to meet other working artists; from the young and emerging artists exhibiting in contemporary galleries, to instructors, designers, and performers. Hello New York! also set a common ground for getting to know local curators, artists residencies and programs, and arranged sessions on grant writing, social media and portfolio preparation.
Part workshop providing keys how to navigate in a local and global art world and part meeting between colleagues around a number of urgent concerns, this program serves as a platform to share knowledge and approach new perspectives.
