Petra Hultman (b. 1983) graduated from the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm, Sweden in 2017. Through the use of archival material, historical objects and contemporary ready-mades Petra Hultman critically explores the notion of domestic reproductive labor from the post-war period until today. Her work makes us critically rethink and revisit the past and at the same time, it generates a set of questions concerning the dismantling of the welfare states under neoliberal policies and the role of a future society and its’ domestic labor(ers).
Hultman has been exhibited extensively in museums and galleries throughout Sweden where she is based. She was the recipient of Beckers' Art Award in 2018 and has received grants from the Anna-Lisa Thomson Memorial Foundation as well as the Swedish Art Grant Committee amongst others. Her work is represented in public collections as the Uppsala Art Museum, Uppsala and Borås Art Museum, Borås and the artist has been selected for public commissions.
