What this one was about.

CPR's second program and its first outside Europe, framed around the theme "(No) somos uno: artistas, curadores, instituciones y diversidad" ("(We Are) Not One: Artists, Curators, Institutions, and Diversity") — an inquiry into difference rather than unity across Colombia, Chile, and Argentina's contemporary art scenes.

The residency followed CPR's nomadic format — specialized readings, museum visits, and artist studio tours paired with direct dialogue between the visiting curators and local art communities — across four cities. In Santiago, the program was hosted by NAVE, Centro de Creación y Residencia, one of several partner institutions across the region.

Eight curators took part, based in Turkey, the US, Greece, the Czech Republic, China, Guatemala, the UK, and Kenya.

Chris Sharp

Curator, writer & gallerist, Los Angeles/Mexico City

Chris Sharp is a curator, writer, and gallerist working between Los Angeles and Mexico City. After joining the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Sharp continued shaping international contemporary art discourse through curating, writing, and exhibition-making. He co-founded Lulu in Mexico City in 2013 and later established Chris Sharp Gallery in 2021. A widely published critic and curator, his work has played a significant role in advancing conversations around emerging and experimental contemporary art.

Fatoş Üstek

Curator, writer & cultural strategist, London

Fatoş Üstek is a curator, writer, and cultural strategist based in London. Since participating in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Üstek has become one of Europe’s most influential curatorial voices. She has served as Director of Liverpool Biennial and the Roberts Institute of Art, and currently curates Frieze Sculpture. Her work, including the book The Art Institution of Tomorrow, continues to shape international conversations around institutional innovation, public art, and equitable cultural practice.

Gean Moreno

Curator, writer & editor, Miami

Gean Moreno is a curator, writer, and editor based in Miami. A participant in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Moreno has played a significant role in shaping contemporary art discourse through curating, writing, and institutional leadership. As Director of the Art + Research Center at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, he leads exhibitions and critical programming at the intersection of contemporary art, architecture, and theory. His publications and curatorial projects have contributed significantly to international art discourse.

Iliana Fokianaki

Curator, writer & theorist, Athens/Rotterdam

Iliana Fokianaki is a curator, writer, and theorist based between Athens and Rotterdam. Since participating in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Fokianaki has emerged as a leading voice in contemporary curatorial practice and critical theory. She is the founder and director of State of Concept Athens and has curated major exhibitions and public programs across Europe. Her writing and research on decoloniality, institutional critique, and systemic inequality continue to shape global conversations on power, art, and cultural production.

Karina Kottová

Curator & cultural leader, Prague

Karina Kottová is a curator and cultural leader based in Prague. After joining the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Kottová developed a prominent institutional career in Central Europe. As Director of the Society of Jindřich Chalupecký, she has played a key role in supporting emerging contemporary artists in the Czech Republic and internationally. Her curatorial practice focuses on experimental exhibition formats, interdisciplinary collaboration, and socially engaged artistic production.

Melanie Roumiguère

Curator & cultural producer

Melanie Roumiguère is a curator and cultural producer working internationally between Europe and Latin America. A participant in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Roumiguère has developed a dynamic practice centered on contemporary Latin American art, decolonial perspectives, and cross-cultural exchange. Her work spans exhibitions, research, and international collaborations, with a strong focus on challenging Western-centric narratives and fostering critical dialogue across global cultural platforms.

Nikita Yingqian Cai

Curator, writer & art historian, Berlin/Hong Kong

Nikita Yingqian Cai is a curator, writer, and art historian based between Berlin and Hong Kong. Since participating in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Cai has become a leading voice in contemporary curatorial practice and art historical research. She serves as Chief Curator at the Times Museum, where she develops exhibitions and research projects across Asia and Europe. Her writing and curatorial work engage global modernisms, decolonial discourse, and transnational cultural exchange, contributing to critical conversations in contemporary art.

Pablo José Ramirez

Curator, writer & cultural historian, Los Angeles

Pablo José Ramírez is a curator, writer, and cultural historian based in Los Angeles. A participant in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Ramírez has developed a distinguished international curatorial career centered on contemporary art, visual culture, and decolonial thought. He currently serves as Curator at the Hammer Museum and previously held curatorial roles at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. His exhibitions, writing, and research continue to shape discourse around Latin American art, race, and contemporary cultural production.

Robert Leckie

Curator & cultural leader, United Kingdom

Robert Leckie is a curator and cultural leader based in the United Kingdom. A participant in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Leckie has built a distinguished leadership career across major contemporary art institutions. After serving as Director of Spike Island, he was appointed Director of Gasworks in 2024. His work spans exhibitions, residencies, and international artist development, with a strong focus on shaping ambitious institutional programming and supporting contemporary artistic practice.

Rose Jepkorir

Curator, Nairobi

Rose Jepkorir is a curator based in Nairobi. Since participating in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2016, Jepkorir has developed a collaborative and research-driven practice rooted in community-building and critical exchange. Her projects include A Seat at a Table, LOOP, and munyu, spanning exhibitions, gatherings, and archival initiatives across Africa and internationally. Her work emphasizes process, dialogue, and socially engaged approaches to curating.
