What this one was about.

CPR's return to in-person programming after the pandemic hiatus, this edition brought six international curators — each with 2+ years of professional experience in contemporary art, independent or institutionally affiliated — through Helsinki, Stockholm, Malmö, Lund, and Copenhagen for daily visits to artist studios and local institutions, paired with lectures and readings on each city's socio-political history and art scene.

The open call ran through March 25, 2022, with applicants notified by April 11. The program was supported by Nordiska Kulturfonden, Region Skåne, Region Stockholm, and the Swedish Arts Council, and selected by a jury of Carmen Ferreyra (Founding Director), Susanne Ewerlöf (Europe Director), Sara Rossling (Project Manager), and guest juror Alessandro Facente — himself a CPR 2018 alum.

Erik Martinson

Curator & writer, London

Erik Martinson is a curator and writer based in London, UK. Martinson participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. After taking part in CPR, he has developed a curatorial practice centered on time-based media, moving image, and experimental exhibition formats. He has curated programs and exhibitions internationally at institutions including LUX, ICA London, Whitechapel Gallery, and Kunstnernes Hus. His work treats film, video, and publishing as curatorial tools, often exploring narrative structures, perception, and contemporary media ecologies. He is also active in collaborative research and editorial projects across Europe.

Helena Lugo

Curator, researcher & producer, Mexico City

Helena Lugo is a curator, researcher, and cultural producer based in Mexico City. Lugo participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. Following CPR, she has developed a curatorial practice focused on research-driven exhibition-making and editorial production. She is Executive Director of the Mexican platform Terremoto, where she leads curatorial, publishing, and institutional programming across the Americas. Her work engages Latin American contemporary art through critical discourse, experimental publishing, and transnational collaboration, supporting both emerging and established artistic practices across the region.

Marie-Nour Hechaime

Curator & cultural producer, Beirut/Europe

Marie-Nour Heachaime is a curator and cultural producer based between Beirut and Europe. She participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. She is Curator at the Sursock Museum, where she develops exhibitions and research-based programs engaging ecology, land politics, and postcolonial knowledge systems, including Earthly Praxis (2023). Her practice spans institutional curating, performance programming, and critical writing, working across Mediterranean and European contexts to connect contemporary art with social and environmental questions.

Mwape J. Mumbi

Curator, writer & researcher, Lusaka

Mwape J. Mumbi is a curator, writer, and researcher based in Lusaka, Zambia. Mumbi participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. Since his engagement with CPR, he has developed a curatorial practice focused on contemporary African art and decolonial knowledge systems. He is affiliated with Modzi Arts in Lusaka, where he contributes to curatorial and research-based programming across exhibitions, residencies, and public events. His work engages artistic production in Southern Africa through collaborative platforms, emphasizing cultural infrastructure, community engagement, and transnational dialogue within contemporary art networks.

Tereza Jindrová

Curator & writer, Prague

Tereza Jindrová is a curator and writer based in Prague. Jindrová participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. Since engaging with CPR, she has developed a curatorial practice centered on contemporary art, experimental exhibition formats, and collaborative programming. Her work engages performance-based practices and socially engaged art, often exploring themes of pleasure, embodiment, and public space through interdisciplinary approaches. She has contributed to curatorial and research-driven projects across Europe, working with artists and institutions on formats that merge exhibition-making, discourse, and performance.

Zoë De Luca Legge

Curator, writer & researcher, Netherlands/UK

Zoë De Luca Legge is a curator, writer, and researcher working between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. She participated in the Curatorial Program for Research in 2022. Since completing CPR in 2022, her practice has engaged ecological thought, posthuman theory, and experimental curating, focusing on more-than-human systems, ritual, and environmental infrastructures. She has contributed to interdisciplinary research and public programming including Pushing Up Daisies and symposium-based projects at institutions such as Queen Mary University of London. Her work connects curatorial practice with ecological and technoscientific discourse across contemporary art and academic contexts.
